Dr Ashleigh Hennessey is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Senior Lecturer at University of Queensland.
She completed a Bachelor of Science in 2005 and then Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Queensland in 2009. After her internship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital she commenced her Physician training at The Royal Hobart Hospital before joining the Queensland Rheumatology training programme in 2014. For her final year of training she undertook a clinical fellowship at University College London Hospital, under the supervision of Professor David lsenberg, a world leader in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
Ashleigh maintains a clinical and academic interest in SLE via involvement with the Australia Lupus Registry. In addition to Redcliffe and Northside Rheumatology she also works at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and as part of this providing a public outreach Rheumatology service to Central Queensland via the Rockhampton Hospital.
Ashleigh is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland active in teaching undergraduate medical students, junior doctors and physician trainees. She is also active member of the Australia Rheumatology Association and was Director of Clinical Training (Queensland) from 2017-2020 inclusive
